Feelings

At times it's so easy to post about all the good stuff to help one feel better and not think about the bad/sad stuff. Though i almost always feel good on Sundays due to church service and fellowship with dear friends, sometimes other stuff happens later on that bums me out. Like today. Won't go into details, but let's just say in this particular situation, i feel quite hopeless and just want it to end. Just doesn't seem to get any better; wonder if it will.

Start of a new work week just hours ahead. oh boy. Sound excited, don't i? Just 40 something days left. That's not tooooo many!

Speaking of church, some of our worship team members will be singing an El Divo (?) song called "Mama" for Mother's Day. Beautiful. Check it out on YouTube. Tear jerker.

Finally got . . .

Stacey Julian's Photo Freedom book. I'm hoping it will really help me get a handle on my photo storage, photo usage, and just some new ideas i've not even considered. Looks good and will share thoughts as i start reading it soon.

Wanted to scrap today, but after running errands and returning midafternoon, just couldn't quite get myself going. Not sure why. My mind wanted to; my body didn't. I can't afford not to with ALL i've got to finish. Did get a pedicure - maybe that relaxed me too much!
Looks like i'm in the market for: a new MP3, a new cell phone (screen out on mine.), and think i'm finally going to get an ATG 714 adhesive gun. Searching the net to try to find best values.

Off to bed now. Hope to enjoy the last day of the weekend. Man, wish it was a 3-dayer!!!

Thankful for . . .

WEEKENDS! This will go into the next week's section of my gratitude album. Personally, i believe we should have 3-day weekends, 4-day work weeks. I'd even be willing to work an extra hour at work to have that. There's just something about a 3-day weekend that just seems a little less rushed, a little more relaxing, a little more productive, a little more enjoyable. What can i say - I love 3-day weekends, and i think i go back to work after one a better employee! Just my 2 cents. Thinking of weekends, after this one, i'll be doing school activities for the next two. I'm not too thrilled about that because being a teacher and already spending a lot of time up there doing things, i just feel like a little break from school/work is needed. I definitely, well usually, don't feel like i had a weekend when the weekend is filled with school activties, at least the Saturday. The 5th is my ds's choir festival, and then he has a track meet the following Saturday ALL DAY LONG! This time of year just seems crammed with things to do on the weekend; hence, that's why i go back to wishing for 3-day weekends. I seem to be repeating myself - :D

So, do you see where my focus is right now??? As Loverboy sings, "Everybody's working for the weekend!" So true for me . . . .

Chow for now.

Passports

Finally got our passports taken care of at the post office. Spring Break proved to be the wrong week to get that done. So today was our last holiday off from school and our last chance to go to the post office. We're just hoping there will be no glitches - like we found out Caleb shouldn't have been wearing a jacket or that Tim and boys needed the 'long' version of their birth certificates - which weren't mentioned on the forms or website. Like they couldn't have told us this in advance? So here's hoping.

Back to school tomorrow; supposedly about 45 days left of school. Doesn't seem possible yet seems far away as well.

Oh before I forget, found some Making Memories papers, embellies, and such at Target. Boy did I have a blast snatching it all up - the new 5th avenue line. Pretty stuff. And if you're local, Scrapbook Fever has got the best people and some new stuff in stock!

Sunday drive . . .

HE'S ALIVE! This is what Easter is all about!

Had a fabulous Easter Sunday service at church this morning. Had a simple lunch, a simple nap and then went for my FIRST somewhat-long motorcycle ride with hubby! First, this Saturday, on our date, we went to the Honda motorcycle store and bought me a helmet. Once we made that commitment, because they're not cheap, I knew I'd have to follow through on my promise to dh and the counselor to try giving motorcycle riding a try. So after my nap, I got ready, put on my new helmet, "hopped" on the bike and we were off! He took simple, smooth, less traveled roads, which was great. We were gone about 20-30 minutes for i had said let's take it easy for my first one. Got back home safe and sound and it was actually quite nice. I can't believe I'm even thinking that I'd like to try that again, but i am. I just have to keep building up my confidence level. He's a great driver! This wasn't my first time to ever ride, but it was the longest one and the first on this particular bike. I'm proud of myself, and hope to try it again soon.
Hope to share a few Easter pics later. Turned out pretty good considering the wind. Can't believe how grownup Caleb looked. My young teenager looked like a bigger teenager!
Off to the scrap room for more stashing away and hopefully some work. Enjoying my VERY last holiday break before school's out for summer . . .

Saturday musings

So nice to go slo-mo on Saturdays. Nothing to wake up for, except to fix breakfast at least at a decent a.m. time - :D. Made pancakes, as my boys love Saturday pancakes! I think this is what i'll put in my gratitude journal - the freedom to just go slo-mo on a Saturday without having to rush here and there and do a ton of stuff. Grateful for weekends!
Surfing the net for some things -ATG 714 glue gun. Think i need one of these! And think I found a great price, too. Also been eyeing the Scor-It or Score Pal. I've seen Erin Lincoln use it on several video clips on the CK website. Cool tool!
Read a bit on the CK MB (message board) about peoples' thoughts of CK magazine. Didn't realize many were becoming disappointed in the mag. Some are saying too many ads; not enough layouts; page numbers decreasing. I guess it hasn't hit me yet, but now i'll be eyeballing April's issue a bit more. Some will discontinue their subscrip. I do have to say i'm LOVING the ScrapTrends magazine, but it costs a whopping $14.95, and their subscription rate for one year is about $85!!!! WOWZERS! BUT, they hardly have any ads and they have tons of layouts and it's a good quality book/mag. Things to ponder.

Supposed to go motorcycle helmet shopping today. Not sure how i feel about that, but i really want to try riding with Tim - you know, to support his passion. Just scared.

Enjoy the beautiful day!!!

Gratitude

A few months ago, I took a class at the lss titled '52 weeks of gratitude'. As usual, I started it but haven't completed. Now that we're almost 12 thru the year, I thought today I better start writing some things i'm grateful for before the year's up and not have any entries. So here goes!

Week #12: I'm thankful for Easter and what it means to me personally. To be able to celebrate Christ's death, burial, and resurrection freely in this country, in my church, truly is something I don't want to take advantage of and am so grateful for.

GOOD FRIDAY!

What a beautiful day! Looking springy out side.

Have the day off and plan to do a little spring cleaning and relaxing.

Caleb had his first track meet this year and got back late last nite. He's a bit tired

May be looking into getting myself a motorcycle helmet this weekend. I'm trying to
work up the nerve to ride with Tim on his motorcycle. Yikes!

Got some new scrap mags to read through this weekend. Love to look at other's ideas.

Took a word bloom class at Scrapbook Fever and have a good start on it. Would really like to finish it and/or another project that I've started. I'm gathering quite the collection of started-but-not-finished projects.

Looking forward to Easter Sunday to celebrate that HE is risen!!!

Have a blessed day today!

Back to school!

Well, we're back to the old routine - school. It was a pretty good day for me as Mondays are lite in teaching (my students have so many specials). They were a bit sluggish but we made it through. Nice thing about returning to a new nine weeks is there is little or no grading left over from the previous week!

Like the chocolate bar banner above? Well, i LOVE chocolate - especially DARK CHOCOLATE! It's the best. And man, do they have have selections now of dark chocolates. I'm trying to sample them all - little at a time. One of these days I WILL do a layout about my love of chocolate.

Supposed to have severe weather tonight. Hope the electricity doesn't go out or it won't be good. Also praying for no tornadic winds or tornados in the area. PRAY!

Taking a word bloom class this week; i'll post it when it's complete - at least decorated, but not sure if i'll have pics in it that quick.

Stay safe tonight and dry tomorrow.

Almost was Friday the 13th!

Missed it by a day - whew! Seriously, not superstitious at all! Just noticed it on the calendar.

This blog won't be seeing as much of me after today. I guess that's what a break in routine can do. Heading back to school Monday. It's okay; the break was refreshing and i feel rested and pretty much ready.

Passports are ALMOST done. House kinda clean. Scraproom looking good except for table tops. Cleaned out some old clothes; need to do the boys'. Need to workout today, but just don't feel like it. Scrapping this weekend!!!! A nice way to end the break, I think.

Got a few monthly kit club packages this week - Freckle Friends and Mosb Posh. Though i don't have subscriptions yet, i'm really getting hooked in to these kits! I hope to play with the stuff soon.

Enough rambling for now. Ciao!

2nd to the last day of Spring Break

It's Thursday and spring break is almost over. It's been nice and i've enjoyed it greatly. We've not done anything special or in particular, and I think that's okay! I've been cleaning and rearranging AGAIN in my scraproom. I think it's close to what i want! We'll see soon enough.

Here's a pic of our state capitol. Can't take credit for the pic, but took it from a scrap friend of mine. It's a beauty. Think i'll use it to put into a word bloom album like this one:

Isn't it a cool looking album?

An acquaintance that works at Scrapbook Fever (hi Pam!) makes them now; her new home business is called Heart of Texas Studio. She's making new words all the time. I'll be taking a class next Wednesday and will do one on the (Air) FORCE. Looking forward to that one. I've already purchased a soccer and Texas album, and got a LOVE one as a scrap-a-thon gift. One could go crazy doing these - they're so fun.

My local LSS who sells these is holding a contest on the best word bloom album created. Saw some TOTALLY awesome ones. I had wanted to enter, but just didn't get around to it. Kinda glad I didn't 'cause the competition is stiff! My two favs were a girl scout one and a Texas License plate one. The lady who did the license plate one must have copied a plate about 6 times and then had to line them up evenly for each page, and it looked so real!

One thing i've been doing to help me reorganize and hopefully make more accessible my hoard of supplies is to make a ribbon bag, much like this one:

I had a leftover makeup bag from Crate and Barrel and punched it up, added eyelets and pulled ribbon through. Quite cute! I then bought a clear bag with black trim, much like the one above, from Target, punched it, added eyelets, and pulled more ribbon through. I just punched more holes in it once i found i could and will add even more ribbon to that bag. No eyelets this time. The one above didn't use them, so i'm saving the rest of mine and will see if the holes hold up.

Well, off to the scraproom again.

20 Questions

Okay, here's some fun facts for me to remember later when i hopefully do an "About Me" album. Got these from my counselor for Tim and I to use on each other.

1. 2 closest friends: Kathy, Mindy (but can't leave out Mary, Reve, Holley)

2. Fav music group: DUH - Journey!

3. Nane one of my hobbies - another DUH - scrapbooking!

4. Stresses facing right now (3/12/08): working on marriage, some student/parent issues

5. Fav relative - not counting my brother, i'd say my cousin Cindy since we've gotten along well and are close in age

6. One of my greatest fears - dying while my boys are young

7. Fav meal? Chicken fajitas

8. Personal improvements I want to make: not to be such a procrastinator, lose this weight, find my value in Jesus and not through or by others, pray more

9. Fav vacation: Right now, probably my Chicago trips (as an adult), Williamsburg, VA (as a child)

10. Fav ways to work out: Walking with MP3 player; Curves

11. Ideal job? Something with or in the scrapbooking industry or maybe in music

12. Fav Magazine: probably Creating Keepsakes

13. Best friend in childhood: Stacey Lovell (church) and Shaun Stallones (neighbor)

14. Least fav relative: can't think of any that i just don't care for

15. What am I most sad about: marriage troubles and loss of my parents

16. Side of bed I prefer? from foot of bed, it'd be the right side.

17. Medical problems I worry about? weight issues that may start affecting my health, depression issues

18. Most embarrasing moment: Probably in early college years when, in a dress in front of a cute guy (and others), i feel down some cement steps at an apartment complex. Busted up my right index finger bad enough for minor surgery. Now it's fused and have a scar to always remember this incident by!

19. Secret ambition? to honestly be content in whatever circumstance i'm in and to be the best mom i can be.

20. Fav song - TOUGH one. Still They Ride and/or Stone in Love both by Journey.
Should be interesting to see how some change in a few months. Hopefully for the better!
Ciao!

Happy Spring Break!

Well, it's been a long time coming, but it's finally here - spring break! We're actually almost half way through it now, and we're definitely enjoying our down time!
Here's what's new since last post:

1. Going on an Alaskan cruise in June. SO looking forward to this. Going with my brother's singing group, among others, and my cousin and her family will also be going.

2. Basketball season is finally over. It was a good season for both boys. Caleb was the little star of both the A and AA teams; scored several 3 pointers and really had a good season. I think he's found his sport! Aaron did well, also. Though slow going at first due to healing of his broken arm, he got a decent amount of playing time, scored several baskets for his team, and also enjoyed himself. Was a very busy season, but worth it.

3. Caleb starts track now. This should be interesting.

4. Taking a word bloom album class next Wednesday. So excited about that.
5. This weekend is my LSS monthly scrapathon. I always look forward to these! SO fun.

6. Mindy and I are hoping to go to NY to see Ms. Kathy towards summer's end. We really miss Ms. Kathy. I pray she'll come back to TX soon.

Been cleaning and reorganizing AGAIN my scraproom. Tim would prefer i find something more productive to do on my spring break. Oh well . . . .

Guess that's it for now. A few pics for fun.

Toodles,

Sherbear
